Introduce yourself in a few words

My name is Andrew Hansinger a flight instructor truned charter pilot. I am 26 years old from Suffolk VA.

Can you tell us about your background and how you became a pilot?

I originally attended university to become an aerospace engineer, but never believed I would one day be flying the machines I wanted to design. Ever since I was a little kid the idea of piloting a plane was a dream of mine. So, after one year of engineering I decided to chase my dream and begin flight training. Two years later I became the Assistant chief Flight instructor at a school near my alma mater and built flight time while enjoying my passion. I then moved on to join the Sofar team in 2023 realizing more of my goals and satisfying desires I had never even known I had. Sofar has turned my career into something that feels like my favorite hobby that i just happen to get paid to do.

I start my day off with a RedBull and after arriving at my base airport I greet the staff at the FBO, prepare the assigned aircraft for the day, discuss the flight plan with my crewmate, take our valued customers to their destination, and head back home.

Why did you choose a private jet company?

I've always wanted to be a part of a growing private jet company to help it reach its maximum potential and be involved in its family oriented work environment. The private jet pilot lifestyle is one hardly matched by any other piloting career.

I have the best office in the world. I get to see breathtaking views everyday on my way to places i have never been before. Truly experiencing the wonders the world has to offer in a way so few get to do.

Simply start. Anyone can become a pilot if they put their mind to it and work hard, and everyone should get behind the yoke at least once to experience the freedom it provides.
