Meet Jordan - Pilot/Crew

Discover Jordan - Pilot for Sofar

May 22, 2024

Introduce yourself in a few words/Can you tell us about your background and how you became a pilot?

Hello! I have been a pilot at Sofar for two years now, and without a doubt I would take my office view over anything else in the world! I started taking flying lessons in college as I studied to be an engineer, never with the intent to have a career as a pilot. After university, I served in the Israeli Army for 2 years, and then came back to join the corporate world. Quickly I learned that I needed something more fast paced, which is when I was lucky enough to join Sofar and I have not looked back since!

What are the main responsibilities of an aircraft pilot?/What skills are essential for success as a pilot?

As a pilot, skills like communication, multi-tasking, remaining calm in high stress situations, and working as a part of a team are essential to conducting safe and efficient operations. We are responsible for the safety and well-being of all occupants on board and take that responsibility very seriously.

What type of aircraft have you flown?

I started training on the Cessna 172, and worked my way through the Cirrus fleet until joining Sofar, where I have flown the Pilatus PC-12, as well as the Phenom 100 and 300.

What does a typical working day look like for you?

Everyday at work is different, which is what I love so much. No two flights are the same, which means we are always adapting and growing as pilots and employees.

Why did you choose a private jet company?

Working here lets me fly state of the art aircraft to all kinds of destinations. I have been fortunate enough to see and visit more cities and states than the average American, and for that I feel blessed.

What's your favorite part of being a pilot?

Favorite part about being a pilot is being able to try different local dishes from the many cities we visit. My favorite would have to be Barbecue from Texas!

What advice would you give to someone who wants to become a pilot?

My advice to aspiring aviators is to try to get the training done within as little amount of time as possible. The more that training is delayed and extended, the harder it will be to stay proficient and focused. It can take just a few months if you’re determined!

Tell us an anecdote

Most people have never heard of Nuuk, Greenland, but I was lucky enough to fly there and trust me, you can pass on ordering the whale!

What do you like about working at Sofar?

The people! Most days it feels more like I’m hanging out with my friends than going to work!

What's your dream destination?

My favorite place to fly has to be Charleston, SC. But, if I could visit anywhere in the world, it would be Italy!
