Can you tell us about your background and how you became a pilot?
Grew up a New Yorker and have wanted to be a pilot since 6th grade, after seeing the movie “Catch me if you Can”. Working then as a golf caddy on the approach path of RWY 34 at KHPN, I found myself looking up at every plane.
What are the main responsibilities of an aircraft pilot?
Manager of each and every day, where solving the day always produces the same product. A safe and productive environment.
What skills are essential for success as a pilot?
Conscientious, confident and calm.
What type of aircraft have you flown?
Pilatus PC-12.
What does a typical working day look like for you?
Varies which keeps each day different from the last. So you could say they are really atypical. But it does always include a lot of pre-flight preparation. Essential to a safe flight.
Why did you choose a private jet company?
Day to day operations are much more exciting. Everything from the busy and large Boston Logan to a small strip in the middle of an upstate farm. Also the best part, no terminals.
What's your favorite part of being a pilot?
Controlling million dollar machines in the air like it's magic.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to become a pilot?
Nothing is set in stone. And you must first learn…how to learn.
Tell us an anecdote
As a cinema buff,I always reference a movie somewhere throughout my day. “Airplane!” gives me enough ammo. I am serious… and don’t call me Shirley!
