Flying private? Don’t Forget Your REAL ID

REAL ID Now Required for Private Jet Travel

May 13, 2025

TSA Rules Apply — Even When You Fly Private

Starting May 7, 2025, the REAL ID Act is fully in effect — and it applies to all flights, including private jet travel with Sofar.

Even if you're flying from a private terminal (FBO), TSA regulations require every passenger over 18 to present a REAL ID-compliant form of identification before boarding.

What You Need to Fly with Sofar

To ensure a smooth check-in, please bring one of the following:

  • REAL ID-compliant driver's license or state ID

  • U.S. passport or passport card

  • Military ID

  • Trusted Traveler Program card (Global Entry, etc.)

  • Enhanced Driver’s License (MI, MN, NY, VT, WA)

🚨 Important: The name on your ID must match your reservation exactly.

Not Sure If You Have a REAL ID?

Check your driver’s license. If it has a star or special symbol, you’re likely good to go. If not, you’ll need to use your passport or another approved ID.

You can also visit your local DMV to upgrade to a REAL ID. It’s fast and secure — and ensures you're ready for takeoff.
