What’s your background in becoming a pilot?

Aviation was the original plan. I flew floatplanes for a fishing camp in Northwestern Ontario during university summer breaks, (yes I’m one of two Canucks at our company) -hoping to build a flying career — but when jobs were scarce, I detoured to trading desks at investment banks. Decades later, I returned to the skies with more experience, a better briefcase, and the same love of flying.

Why work for a jet charter company?

Charter aviation blends precision flying with dynamic problem-solving. Every trip is different — new routes, new weather, new passengers — and that keeps it exciting. It’s also incredibly rewarding to offer a level of service and flexibility that airline flying just can’t match.

What’s your favorite moment in a typical day as a pilot?

That moment after takeoff when the climb checklist is complete, the Phenom 100 is settled in, and you’re soaring above the clouds. Everything is calm, quiet, and exactly where it should be — it’s a little slice of peace at 400 knots.

Your favorite aircraft to fly — and why?

In my early flying days, nothing beat the thrill of the Beech 18 on floats — loud, classic, and unforgettable. Taking off from glassy water with a load of fishermen and gear felt like real flying, the kind that sticks with you. These days, the Phenom 100 has taken over that “favorite” title — sleek, responsive, and incredibly well-designed. It delivers jet performance with just the right mix of precision and style. A client once joked it looked like a baby Gulfstream, but with better parking options — and honestly, I couldn’t agree more.
